Random Quote Du Jour

I also happen not to like books in which the author keeps telling me where I’ve been and where I’m going, as if following a road map is of greater interest to me than what I can see for myself out the window.

Woah

Hello there.  I have been gone a while.  Who knew that starting a new job could be so exhausting?  I just noticed that the last time I posted was on the day I started my new job.  Coincidence?  I think not.  There is something about starting something new that where you are not used to the routine that completely kills your ability to think, and takes away all of the energy you usually have for the other things you do.  During my time away from writing I have really just been making my wife mixes and importing stray CDs into my computer.  These activities are all I have had the energy for.  While I knew that the new job might have this effect on me, I was unprepared for the extent of the exhaustion I would feel from the change.  I remember when Sharon came to visit me during my first week of working (two weeks or so after graduation) and she thought that I didn’t like her anymore because I wanted to go to bed at 9 every night and had no energy to show her how excited I was to see her.  It turns out that neither of us were prepared for how much a massive change in routine can affect you.  Today is the first time in three weeks since I have had the concentration to sit in my favorite spot, with Dwight in his, and write ponderous blog posts.  Finally!

At thirty-one, when some are rich

And others dead,

I, being neither, have a job instead…
